The announcement about the revival of Datsun brand for emerging markets was made by Nissan in April and here is a rendering that depicts the Datsun grill based on the patent leaks from Russia.

Datsun grille

There are no plans for Nissan to bring a sedan under Datsun badge to India, but the rendering gives us idea about how the grill may look like in the upcoming Datsun hatchbacks. Doesn't it remind you of the Jaguar grill?

The silhouette of this hexagonal grill was even used by Datsun in a presentation during their official announcement for India.

Two Datsun hatchbacks, codenamed 'I2' and 'K2', are being developed for India and other emerging markets, Indian Autos Blog has already revealed.

The 'I2' will be a low cost small car which is based on the ‘A-Entry’ platform and is being designed by a team of Indian engineers led by Gerard Detourbet, who is credited with the engineering of the Logan. The I2 will compete with the Alto, Eon, Spark and the likes.

The K2 will be a bigger hatchback based on the ‘V’ platform and will sit under the Micra. The Renault-Nissan Technology and Business Centre India Private Ltd (RNTBCI) will also handle the design and development duties of the K2 which is touted to be rivaling cars like i10, WagonR and Beat.

The Datsun brand will be Nissan’s Dacia and is expected to debut the two new hatchbacks at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
