VW begins pre-launch activity for new Beetle in Malaysia; India launch when?

Volkswagen India showcased the new Beetle at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and many of us expected the launch to be held immediately after the show.

Hope was lost as the launch of the other exhibit, which was sampled by the media earlier in the year, was also paused. We don't think VW has lined it up for Diwali, but we'd enjoy to be proven wrong.

The new Beetle is powered by petrol engines displacing between 1.2L to 2.5L beside 1.6L and 2.0L diesel engines, paired to 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.

The launch of the all-new Beetle continues to march on in other countries. Volkswagen has begun teasing the Beetle in Malaysia where it will be launched next month.

Two videos were released as teasers for the vehicle's would-be customers. The third video is expected to air on the 23rd of August, and the car will be launched at the VW Das Auto Show that runs from September 7 to 9 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, according to PaulTan.org.

The new Beetle sits on the VW Golf platform and features a bigger cabin. It is longer and wider than the outgoing model.
