Renault launched the new Fluence E4 D at a price of Rs. 15,20,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) in New Delhi yesterday. The new
variant gets a an upgraded version of the fully local manufactured K9K diesel engine which now produces 110 PS of power and 240 NM of torque.
These specifications are not a quantum leap over the existing car, but mind you, its not the power that has changed much, it’s the way it is delivered. Indian Autos Blog will be driving the new Fluence E4 D day after tomorrow to find out how much better it is.
The torque kicks in at a much lower RPM and stays for a longer engine speed range for a linear power delivery that promises to cope better with the city traffic and highway driving (unverified). The chart below gives a clearer view of the comparison.
The new Variable Geometric Turbo and the Piezo injector (Fuel injectors) are responsible for this increase in power, but the fuel efficiency has not changed. The car still manages to deliver a class leading efficiency of 20.4 kmpl (ARAI).
The Fluence is equipped heavily with features like the dual-zone climate control with rear air vents for rear seats, Rain & light sensors, Rear Parking Sensors, Smart Access Card Entry, Engine Start/Stop button, Electrically foldable ORVMs, 4 speaker music system with USB, AUX-IN and Bluetooth, Cruise Control and Rear Sunblinds. The features seen on the petrol variant are now available on the E4 diesel.
In terms of safety, the E4 D is equipped with ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, ESP, ASR, dual front and side airbags for front passengers and load limiters.
Under the “Renault Complete Care” service package, the company offers 4 years/ 80,000 km warranty, labour free service at 2,000, 10,000 and 20,000 km service appointments, 24/7 Roadside Assistance, valet service to pick up, service and drop off the car and even concierge services to help navigate & find hotels and dining options.
