Ford EcoSport heads to Nepal in 2012 with Ecoboost/DuraTorq + 5-speed MT

Ford EcoSport side profileThe distributors of Ford in Nepal are confident that the EcoSport will be launched in their country in 2012. GO Automobiles, authorized distributor of Ford vehicles in Nepal has told the The Himalayan Times that petrol and diesel variants of the EcoSport urban SUV are expected to launch by December.

The EcoSport is a top hat on the B-Platform that will be sold in over 100 markets. A concept version, extremely close to the production specifications, was shown a day prior to the Auto Expo in Delhi last month. It received plenty of good reactions from the media here in India and back in the US. Ford said never has it offered this much car in such a small footprint.

The director of GO Automobiles expects it to be the sales leader due to its superiority in features and design. The report adds that the 1-liter Ecoboost engine will be married to a 5-speed manual transmission delivering 120PS power while being 20% more fuel efficient and emitting under 140g/km of carbon dioxide emissions.

The Nepalese market will sell EcoSports manufactured out of Ford's Chennai facility.
