First Look: New Volkswagen Jetta

Yesterday, VW India finally pulled the dust sheets off the new Jetta for the Indian market. The old Jetta was launched in India is early 2008 and always remained in the shadow of the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Chevy Cruze and its cousin sister Skoda Laura.

Unlike all these cars which had their own specific USP, the Jetta was a jack of some trades. So VW India decided to can the old model and bring the sixth generation Jetta in India.

By this morning Maruti had registered 50,000 pre-launch bookings in dealerships across India. Shockingly 80% of the bookings were for diesel variants while the remaining were gobbled up by petrol. That clearly shows the how much diesel takes precedence over petrol variants.

New Maruti Swift – Studio shots

The coverage hasn’t ended yet. The new Swift continues to amaze us with its features and design and we’re sure you’ll appreciate the studio shots that we have gained access to. The new Swift is offered in three variants for both petrol and diesel forms.

If you look at the images casually, there will be no appreciable change in appearance. There’s a little big of extra fat around the tail gate and the rear quarter’s curve is reminiscent of the 3-door Swift from the recently passed generation.

Maruti has retained the Swift’s design language to not lose out on the familiarity. The outgoing Swift was inspired by the Hayabusa sports motorcycle which when launched, was the fastest production motorcycle in the world.

The objective of the video however is to provide you another look of the Swift, this time in dynamic mode. It was announced this morning that the new Swift has already crossed 50k bookings and that number is increasing by the day. The Facebook fan count has flown past the 200k mark and is looking good to steer past 250k as deliveries begin.

Remember that the new Maruti Swift, even with production lines equipped to churn out 18k units a month, will continue demanding a three month waiting period.
