Car and Bike Show fan Bhavith Shetty posted images of the new Maruti Swift from its ad shoot in Bangalore. Unfortunately the windshield of the car was shattered during the shoot and had to be taken away. Going by the images, it does not look like a serious accident. Did the camera slip from the mount and fall on the windshield?

Hopefully no one is hurt.
Maruti will bring out the new Swift during the 17th of this month with the 1.2 VVT and 1.3 Quadrajet. Have you seen our Maruti Swift ZXI spyshot post that reveals the interiors?

In a Mumbai press conference that is rolling as we bring this to you, Nissan has confirmed that it will use the name ‘Sunny’ for its sedan. The word “Sunny” according to Nissan depicts sun god which also means good beginning in the morning (surya namaskar).
Nissan has sold 16 million examples of the Sunny worldwide. The vehicle has just been launched in China and will also reach Canada and Mexico shortly.

Nissan describes the Sunny as a car with a premium design interior and exterior, roomy interior and good performance. Our man on ground zero says the car looks exactly the same as the US model as Nissan adds in the background that this is a “benchmark” sedan.
There are 52 operative dealers and 78 appointed dealers for Nissan who will retail the Sunny. It is powered either by a 1.5-liter diesel engine or a 1.6-liter petrol engine.

If you have been tuning into IndianAutosBlog.com, you will know that Honda will not bring the 2012 Civic to the Delhi Auto Expo. While we think this is because Honda wants to place undivided energy on the Brio’s launch, a consolation for Honda fans are these images released in Malaysia.

The Malaysian version sports minor styling differences from the American Civic range. India could get this version featuring a unique grille and bumper design. The head lamps consist of clear turn indicators instead of the amber lights that are a legal requirement in the US.

Unless you’ve been marooned in a forest for the last few years, you will not know about Fiat’s small car than it intends to position under Punto. Fiat can revive its fortunes with one successful product. We’ve seen what Figo did to Ford India. It made Ford look like a completely different company. The morale of the company can change when a product wins big.

The learning from products like the Swift, Alto, City, etc is that to be a segment champion you don’t need to have the best styling, most features or the lowest price. Fiat has the advantage of Italian styling, the diesel technology widely acknowledged as world class, and many innovative features. The ingredients for a blockbuster is there.

While we can’t confirm which small car is coming to India, it is not the Uno and is unlikely to be the new Panda. We’re not aware of other small cars in Fiat’s international pipeline. Surely it has to be the new Palio you see testing here with tapes in Brazil. Fiat India might want to call it something else as bad blood simmers with Palio. We expect to see it at the Delhi Auto Expo next year.
Fiat’s small car for India will have a 1-liter petrol engine and the existing Multi-jet engine could be used in the original or modified form.
What are your thoughts on the 2012 Palio?
Mercedes Benz’ baby CLS, based on the upcoming A-Class, is testing with a lot of camouflage in Europe, but its sporty looks and resemblance to the CLS needs more than camouflage to hide.
This will be the German’s company mini “four-door coupe” to take on the likes of the Audi A3 sedan and BMW 1 Series sedan. Both front wheel and four wheel drive will be offered on the CLC. It will draw many styling cues from the Mercedes Benz F800 Style study shown a while back at the Geneva Motor Show.
Expected in late 2013, the Mercedes Benz CLC will sit under the C-Class in the class of the Accords, Camrys, Passats, etc. The three new compact German cars will not offer the same comfort or space as other Japanese or European rivals and will rely on the badge value to cut out a position for themselves.
