2012 Honda CR-V gets spied inside out

Honda’s next generation CR-V (Code – 2WS) has been spied partially uncovered in China. The exterior demeanor is similar to the concept Honda previewed through a photograph released last month.

The executives sanctioning this model for production aimed at introducing a sporty replacement to the big-winning crossover. With the Civic, the route taken was a slightly conservative/toned down one. But with the CR-V brave concept car trimmings have reached the production spec model.

The extra large front grille caves into the headlamps while the stop lights are Volvo XC60-esque. The slabs on the radiator grille are thick and contoured, while the headlamps are pulled back into the front wings. The side profile is the same as revealed by an AutoBlog.com spy shot followed by an in-house SRK rendering.

For those who don’t know, we must inform that BMW started its operations producing aircraft engines.

The company’s history spans for more than 90 years and for this period, mystery surrounding the logo of the company has deepened. As BMW started with aircraft engine’s it was easy to guess that the logo resembles an engine propeller in motion but the truth is something else and is explained in the video.

The truth, as explained, is rather very simple. The blue and white colors on the logo are inspired by the colors on the Bavaria’s flag, BMW’s birthplace.

Hyundai ix45 spotted – Is it arriving next year?

Having got a resounding response from the Indian market with the Santa Fe, Hyundai will be licking its lips seeing curtains ready to fall on an all-new Santa Fe which will begin using the ix45 monicker, according to international reports.

Hyundai ix45 front

While Hyundai is tight lipped about the successor of the internationally popular softroad SUV, we don’t need any intel to declare that the launch is very near. The missing camouflage signifies the launch is not very far away.

In India the Santa Fe brand is very new and since SUV buyers have often pulled it up, its a name that gets tossed around in forums and blog sites. By delaying the launch of the Santa Fe by a few years (remember seeing it at the Auto Expo 2008?) the company has done a good thing. It gained publicity and escalated expectations without Hyundai spending any money.

The new Swift bows in on the 17th of this month (the same day as the new VW Jetta). Maruti Suzuki has worked out a better Swift by adding more features and increasing capacity back at the factory. However that said, waiting period will be around three months unless you own a dealership or know someone who does very closely.

Variants of the new Swift along with the equipment has been discussed in depth in an earlier post. The Swift petrol is driven by a 1,197cc engine producing 87PS/114Nm while the 1,248cc diesel engine (Fiat sourced) coaxes out 75PS/190Nm.

TKM introduces the Toyota Innova Crysta Edition

Toyota Innova Crysta EditionThe Toyota Innova has been the king of the MPV segment since the dawn of time. Hardly any car has dominated a segment so aggressively. There were many attempts by competing manufacturers to dethrone the king but very few of them made a difference. The Innova refused to budge from its No 1 position.

Part of success can be attributed to the fact that the Innova appeals to the Taxi market and the privately owned market at the same time. Having said that, over 50% of the Innovas sold are the top-end model.

Very few vehicles have managed to pull that off. Some cars, when they enter taxi market, simply loose their charm to family owners. Toyota’s marketing team has managed to keep the image of Innova desirable for both customers.

The way they have managed to pull that off is by introducing ‘special edition’ of Innova every now and then. This time it is the Innova Crysta Edition. 1,000 units of the special model will be manufactured till October 2011. For a little extra dough, this special edition features:

• Smoked Alloy wheels
• Body Graphics
• Rear Roof Spoiler
• Muffler Cutter
• Dual Tone leather seat cover
• Dark wood panel
• Floor mats

Mercedes Benz SLK 350 India

The SLK 350, as we wrote in our last post featuring some spyshots, isn’t a volumes model. It is a brand shaper and has no intention of finding thousand buyers. It serves as a great desktop wallpaper for those with a high resolution camera on their mobile phone.

  • EuroNCAP 5 Star safety (one of the safest cars in its class)
  • Magic Sky Control – Panaromc VarioRoof (opaque to transparent at the touch of a button)

  • Air scarf system – Mercedes’ marketeer says a warmer for the driver’s neck region

Spied again: Honda Brio in Noida

As Diwali gets closer, Honda Siel India is ramping up its efforts on the testing phase of the Brio. Carwale/AutoBild shot this test vehicle doing its testing rounds on the Noida expressway. From the looks of things, there are no specific changes to the body. The test vehicle looks exactly like the Brio launched in Thailand.

Honda Brio side

The Brio is a very important hatchback for Honda India. It will be the brand’s foray in the affordable segment. After continuously bleeding its market share to competitors for the last 5 months, Honda Siel India is finally getting its act together. The City is doing healthy 4K units, the Jazz is due for a facelift on August 18th; even the facelifted Accord is showing signs of progress.
