Breaking – Koenigsegg races into India on March 29

Siddharth Vinayak Patankar of NDTV Car&Bike Show, about ten minutes ago updated his followers on Facebook that Koenigsegg will be officially launched in India in an event to be held in the national capital. Koenigsegg has partnered with InterGlobe Enterprises which is in turn owned by Rahul Bhatia (the same man behind Indigo Airlines) for selling its cars in the Indian market. This announcement comes days after Ferrari tied up  [ Read More ]

Days before its official launch on the 29th of March in Mumbai, the new Passat Bluemotion has been spied by Vikram Jayanath, a member NDTV Car and Bike Show Facebook page. The new Passat is a cosmetic revamp of the older generation car featuring the same design language as displayed on the new Jetta, Touareg and our own VW Polo. The car features VW’s trademark ‘BlueMotion’ technology which leading to  [ Read More ]

Although the web-o-sphere is abuzz with the news of the facelifted Hyundai Accent, IAB viewers were informed well in advanced about the changes. But this ‘out-of-the-blue’ facelift has generated a strange question. Are we on the verge of saying goodbye to the current Verna? The RB sedan has been flaunting itself all across the country for a while now. There are so many spy pics available on the internet that  [ Read More ]

Spied – European Ford Fiesta hatchback

Ford Fiesta side

These pictures of the Ford Fiesta testing on the IT corridor in Chennai were taken not very long ago. Our Chennai reader Bairesh Raj picked up these shots of the hatch sporting a smooth design and intense-looking head and tail lamps.

We hear India was not in the list of countries on the new Fiesta’s plan and thus there is nothing one can do about the stingy boot space of the scanty rear legroom. These are two aspects you don’t want to fool with in India as we travel with elders very often and the boot space plays a big role during long journeys. The Fiesta hatchback will be in a segment above the Figo having the Hyundai i20 and new Maruti Swift where one can’t afford to make mistakes.

Spied – Tata Indica Vista LHD

Tata Indica Vista LHD

OnCars.in has caught the LHD variant of the Tata Indica Vista testing in Pune with Tamil Nadu registration plates. No unusual addition or feature was noted on this model. Tata Motors is charting serious plans to enter many international markets that includes LHD countries.

A recent media report suggested Tata Motors is planning assembly lines in Indonesia, South Africa and Brazil. The company is betting on the Vista and Manza to appeal to overseas buyers.

Hyundai Accent facelift official image

New Hyundai Accent ExecutiveHere’s one official image of the Hyundai Accent facelift, posted by Siddharth Vinayak Patankar on the NDTV Car&Bike Show page.

Hyundai hasn’t issued a press release on the introduction of the new model and hasn’t yet updated the Accent’ official webpage. We understand that there are no changes under the hood or to the Accent’s interiors.

Hyundai doesn’t have a modern Etios, Manza or Dzire competitor. It has to make do with the Accent by giving it mild makeovers until something is ready. Hyundai has no interest in discontinuing the Accent, and we predict this model will run for another three years until a replacement arrives.

Renault Fluence front IndiaRenault Fluence rear tail lamp

IAB reader Bairesh Raj passed on these spyshots of the Renault Fluence testing on the GST road near Chennai. The launch will unfold in the next few months during which we expect Renault to announce a 1.5-liter diesel (think Nissan Micra) and a 2.0-liter petrol engine.

The Fluence will brought down to India from Turkey in the form of knock-down kits. Renault will be anxious to break out of the shell the Logan created with the more modern Fluence positioned in the Corolla-Cruze territory. Earlier spy pics sent by our Pune reader Snatak suggested Renault will offer an automatic transmission, possibly married to the diesel engine. Before that, Renault has to set up a dealership network.

Could the Mahindra Logan CS’ rear get this look?

Dacia Electra rear angleMahindra’s gained rights to produce the Logan in India and they will produce it without the Renault logo or the Logan name. A sub 4-meter derivative is a definite possibility.

The Dacia Logan Electra was an experimental vehicle engineered by a top Romanian university with an electric powertrain. Students had to stretch and truncate a portion of the Logan’s rear to house the battery pack without disturbing the car’s dynamics.

The college project might never turn into a production model but Mahindra can take a cue or two from its styling. The melted rear hosting LED lamps looks neat, stylish and well-executed.
