Official – Something cooking at Ford India on April 7

new Ford Fiesta IndiaFord India has requested media representatives including us to block out the afternoon on 7th April for a press conference in Chennai. Ford is done with the Figo’s celebrations and the 100,000th local powertrain milestone has also gone by.

This could mean that Ford has something interesting to share on their next product – the new Fiesta which IAB has tracked minute-by-minute like a weather satellite. Could Ford unveil the India-spec car to the media through a special guest like they did for the Figo? Or can it be an event detailing the down-segmented Fiesta Classic?

Whatever it may be, we’re going to find out real soon. Stay tuned to Indian Autos Blog!

InfoMotori reports Tata Motors has launched two special editions of the Vista in Italy with white/black and red/black paint schemes. Under the hood, you’ll either find the same 1.4 petrol or 1.3 diesel generating 75hp.

Tata’s obsession with the black roof stretches to the 10th anniversary edition for the Indica, followed by the first birthday edition of the Vista painted light brown. Official shots of the Tata Nano from the 2008 Auto Expo unveil showed a top-end model with a black roof.

Do you think Tata Motors should sell the Vista black roof edition in India as well?

Tata Motors is getting ready to the launch of an electric version of Indica Vista in the United Kingdom. The company has secured an electric vehicle manufacturing center in Coventry, which is capable of building 1,500 electric vehicles every year. New Fiat Palio debuts this July in Brazil

2012 Fiat PalioAfter countless rumors that the new Palio (a.k.a Project 326) has been delayed till the end of the year, we finally have some insider information. The new Fiat Palio will enter production in Brazil on June 15.

The official launch will be conducted in July and deliveries of cars would begin from there on.

Fiat India is working on a small car which it could show for the first time at the Auto Expo in January 2012. There is a good chance that the new Palio and Fiat India’s small car are one and the same. Fiat has to be careful with the branding of the new small car. In my opinion they can choose any name except Palio as the tarnished legacy is better left behind.

Happy birthday Shoeb R Kalania

Our team member Shoeb R Kalania (SRK as we are used to calling him) celebrates his 22nd birthday today. To auto enthusiasts who get their updates online, SRK is a household name.

His passion for art, limitless imagination and the ability to decipher camouflage not only gives auto companies in India some headaches but also a lot of food for thought.

Over the last two years many of Shoeb’ renderings from IAB have appeared on international magazines and blogs. We’ve even spotted his work on a popular TV channel recently which sadly didn’t bother with the credit.

Recently Shoeb’s work on the Mahindra W201 caught Mr Anand Mahindra’s eye. An intrigued Mr Mahindra tweeted “All this speculation from these ‘auto-sleuths’ is wonderful!.”

Please join me in wishing my talented team member a very happy bday.

Best Regards,
Shrawan Raja
