Apart from announcing the price of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, at the Autocar Performance Show tomorrow, the unveiling of the Volvo XC60 is also scheduled to happen.
The Volvo XC60 will be launched on the 24th of this month. Volvo wants to understand what people think of the XC60 and they can certainly do with a perception report before announcing the prices.
The unveil will be valuable in gauging public response and also sending out a strong message that Volvo is willing to take the fight to the Germans.
The 3.0-litre T6 petrol engine producing 285bhp and a massive 40.7kgm of torque and the 2.4-litre D5 diesel putting out 175bhp and 42.7kgm of torque will be made available in India.

Finally it’s here!
At the Autocar Performance Show starting tomorrow, Mitsubishi will announce the price of the much awaited Lancer Evolution X.
Alongside the Evo X, the new Montero will also be displayed. The Montero has been upgraded to BS4 norms and is on sale.
Powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre motor (don’t even think it is diesel) the Evo is churning out nothing less than 291bhp of power. 0-100kph comes up in 6.6sec and if you put pedal to metal, you will be at touching distance to 180kph.
The BS4-compliant Montero comes with the same 4-cylinder in-line, 3200cc, turbo-diesel engine coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. Power has gone up by 37bhp to bring the grand total to 199.28bhp while the extra 59Nm torque takes the twist force to 450Nm. Minor changes to the front and rear bumper are the cosmetic changes.

OK, we don’t know what this is expect for a fact that it’s a vehicle with an “On Test” badge on it.
While sitting in office and looking out in window out of boredom resulting from the lack of any interesting stories to post, a white truck appeared out of nowhere and entered the fuel bunk on the opposite side of the road. Assuming it was a Mahindra Maxximo, I turned away, sipping on hot coffee that tasted better today, thanks to the effect of pouring rain.
I turned towards the window and looked again. The rain had picked up and by chance, I glanced at the petrol bunk one more time.
Straight away, a story for IAB had emerged. There was a sense of excitement suddenly. A scoop had come searching for us.
I rushed down with a friend, got into the car and began pursuit of a white load carrier. As we drew closer to the truck, we realized it was massive for a compact truck. The dimensions are bigger than the Maxximo. It was not styled anything like a Mahindra, Piaggio or a Tata. I knew this had to be a from another brand.
After taking a few close-ups of this pickup, I return back to office to punch down this story. I feel like some kind of a superhero. After analyzing the pictures, I suddenly feel like Sherlock Holmes.
Do you know what this vehicle is? This looks very much like a pick-up from a bygone generation. The styling is outdated. The vehicle’s registration number was TN 20 XXXX. The Mahindra W201 SUV we spotted testing back in May also had a similar plate but my hunch is this isn’t a Mahindra.

Using spyshots of the next generation Honda Civic, members of temple of vtec managed to uncover the actual look of the production model.
The next generation Honda Civic (Codename – 2HC) is unmistakably a larger Honda City from certain angles. Honda has said in Japan that it will stop selling the current Civic once the stock runs out. This is naturally to allow the next generation model to take charge.
In India, the next gen Civic can be expected next year. Honda’s current priority is preparing the 2CV or Brio for India which debuts at the Thailand Motor Show on the 30th of this month.
The USP of the 2012 Civic however would not be its styling. The Civic’s already futuristic interiors will lay claim of being this car’s USP which seems to have been inspired by the CR-Z. As per one of the earlier reports, a compact diesel engine is getting ready to move into the Civic’s engine bay.

It doesn’t make sense to sell just 20,000 cars, when we will sell 4 million two-wheelers this year. Unless you sell 2 lakh a year of the small car, you don’t break even.
Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s India Economic Summit, Bajaj Auto Chairman, Mr Rahul Bajaj remarked on the low-cost car project his company is part of with Renault-Nissan.

Several media reports online have hinted a December-end arrival for the Thar jeep that attracted a sea of people at the Auto Expo this year. The Thar has been introduced in South Africa this year and is doing healthy numbers.
The Thar has in it a 2.5-liter CRDI engine that produces 105hp and 247Nm. Coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission and a Borg Warner Manual Shift transfer case, the Thar promises exciting off-road action.
we’ll keep you updates on the Mahindra Thar. Stay tuned to Indian Autos Blog.

The much awaited crossover-SUV from Skoda was officially launched in Delhi today. The launch ceremony happened at hotel Janpath, and unlike all other launches performances and flash lights are abound indoors indoors, Yeti stood covered, in a seemingly calm and cool manner in an open area. The surrounding area had a raw and rocky ambiance to enhance the background for the product.
The car was unveiled by Mr Thomas Kuehl, Board member & Director, Skoda Auto India. Mr Keuhl and as rightly pointed out by him, this wasn’t a launch ceremony, it’s instead a price unveiling ceremony. The Yeti had done away with its dust sheets in January at the Auto expo.
