Rendering – Nissan V-Platform sedan

2011 Nissan Sunny front2011 Nissan Sunny front

Nissan requested us not to call this the Micra sedan and you understand why immediately after you’ve seen the spy shots.

Nissan’s V-Platform sedan’s interiors have been brought to you before along with our indicative impressions. But here’s one very close to the real deal. We mistook it for a leaked shot, and upon close inspection discovered it was nothing more that a photoshop gimmick.

Nissan’s Sunny (as it will be called in China where it debuts this year) has nothing in common with the Micra on first glance. Common parts between the hatch and sedan is abound, but to the naked eye, they will be poles apart. When you step inside the relationship gets evident. However, the sedan is likely to have a comfortable back seat and the rear occupants will enjoy more legroom and perhaps even an AC vent.

The Nissan V-Platform sedan will have a 1.5-liter diesel engine and 1.6-liter petrol engine capable of delivering anything in the range of a hundred horsepower. There is no information on the automatic transmission, but it will appear on the menu in due course of time. The V-Platform sedan is likely to pitted against the Honda City and Nissan will offer many features like the Start-Stop button, key-less entry and climate control on the sedan when it hits India in the last part of 2011.

Sketch – Next generation VW Beetle

2011 Beetle2011 VW Beetle

Here are a couple of sketches one of our anonymous readers from Germany emailed us. We can’t vouch for the congruency or accuracy of these sketches until we’ve seen the actual model.

Talking after seeing the spyshots published before, we understand the roof of the new model is flattened out and the overall silhouette is somewhat identical to the current Beetle.

We expect the next gen Beetle to come to India by the end of next year and there is a talk about the possibility of it being assembled in India at the VW Chakan facility. There are no confirmed reports but the new Beetle has outdone the company’s predictions by a good margin.

Spied – Mercedes Benz C Class Facelift

Mercedes Benz C-Class faceliftThe Mercedes Benz C Class is quite a popular vehicle and sells in good numbers across the world. The car in its present avatar has been around for quite sometime and the guys at Benz have given a facelift to the car to freshen things up.

The first spy shot of the facelifted C-Class is out and there are quite a few noticeable changes. The head lamps receive a fresh design, the front bumper and the bonnet to have been given tweaks. The tail lamps too have been restyled.

The interiors too get minor upgrades in form of the finish. The engine options remain the same and there is no update from Daimler on that. Although the car will now get a 7 speed transmission in place of the 5 speed according to some reports.

The new C is likely to make its debut at the 2011 Detroit Motor Show along with the newest addition to the C range- the C Class Coupe.

The car is expected to hit Indian shores sometime in the summer of 2011. The C Class is the segment leader and this 3 pointed star contributes to half of the sales of Mercedes Benz India. Although the C is facing some heat from the BMW 3 series but the upgraded model will sure make things easier for Mercedes Benz.

Siemens 4S Electric carSiemens is working on a project that will help them assess the feasibility of electric cars for all markets in the near future. The company believes that millions of electric cars will be out their on the streets in the coming years.

This project called 4-S (4 Sustain Electro Mobilty) will study electric cars and their infrastructure. The project will focus on electric components and will also research and develop new business models. The project is divided into 3 stages.

Stage 1 starts on November 20th and will focus on the infrastructure. Stage 2 kicks off in Spring 2011 and it will focus on the driving aspect of these vehicles by taking down all sorts of data. Stage 3 starts in fall of 2011 wherein the electric vehicles will be fitted with drive systems from the Industrial sector. The project will be carried out by company employees at Munich & Erlangen.

The inputs gained from this project will help Siemens develop new electric components. What is noteworthy is the the Suzuki Splash (Maruti Suzuki Ritz) forms the bases of this project. The Splash is the one that has gone electric and will be tested by Siemens employees.

2011 Chevrolet Aveo sedan

We have been regularly bringing you spy shots of the next gen Aveo siblings and we also showed you the pictures of the production version Aveo Hatchback (UV-A) that was recently unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. IAB also brought you the first drawings and the first official picture of the next gen Aveo Sedan that is stated to be unveiled either at the LA Auto Show( November 2010) or the Detroit Motor Show(January 2011).

The production Aveo Hatch(UV-A) that was showcased at the Paris Motor Show was a show stopper. The car looks smashing with the twin barrel headlamps, the bulges and creases , the split grille and tail lamps that look pretty similar to the Beat. Also, just like the Beat the rear door handles are mounted on the C pillar. The interiors too are similar to the Beat as well as the Cruze and come with loads of equipment.

Now the question is, when is the India entry? It is confirmed that the sedan version of the Aveo (sedan) will enter India before the hatch version. It is expected to come 3 engine options- 1.4 liter 100 BHP Petrol, 1.6 liter 115 BHP Petrol and most importantly the 1.3 liter Multijet Diesel with VGT (95 BHP) that will be locally manufactured at GM’s Talegaon Plant.

The hatch (UV-A) will then enter India with a 1.2 liter and a 1.4 liter Petrol heart and the 1.3 diesel. The hatch and sedan will go into production early next year in South Korea and will then be gradually launched in other markets.

We expect the sedan to come to India in the second half of 2011. But if sources are to be believed the entry of the Aveo siblings might be delayed in India thanks to SAIC. Since SAIC has bought a stake in General Motors India there are chances of the company wanting to launch their products (like the Sail Hatchback or Sail sedan) first and then giving way for GMDAT products.

Although we have not got a confirmed period of launch by GMI we do expect the sedan to definitely enter India next year if not the hatch (UV-A). Stay tuned to IAB for more on the next gen Aveo.
