After the successful launch and good response of premium hatchback Micra, Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd (NMIPL) is planning to target Indian market very aggressively, with the launch of the sedan version of this car in India.
This is Nissan’s Group B segment V-platform based Micra/March sedan with the front end resembling that of the Teana. With a 1.6-liter petrol engine and the Logan’s 1.5L diesel, it must be placed in the price segment of Rs 6.5 to 8 lakh.
On its entry in the Indian market by the end of next year, its competition will be with the host of the best-selling sedans Volkswagen Vento, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna and Honda City.

The talking newspaper last week served as a morning jolt to me. It was a very novel idea however, triggering of an avalanche of bookings.
Indian Cars Bikes reports Volkswagen has registered 4,000 bookings for the Vento. The Polo’s waiting period has stretched into months and the Vento’s rush of bookings will put more pressure on Volkswagen. If anything, waiting periods are set to increase.
The Vento’s segment has Maruti, Hyundai, Honda, Fiat and Ford battling it out with some fine products. The company has started the second shift at the Chakan facility and is hardly able to keep up with the demand. Till now, it has only managed to deliver 11,000 cars out of the 19,000 orders.
The Volkswagen Vento comes with a diesel engine that segment leader Honda City misses out. The reaction of the Indian customer to the Vento was expected and with such a brilliant marketing team working in the VW building, it’s not hard to forsee more customers walking into their dealerships in the future.
The production form of the RB Concept, the subcompact sedan Solaris was unveiled in Russia a few days ago. Hyundai could bring this very same car to India next year with a 1.4-liter petrol from the i20, 1.6-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engine used on the Verna.
Hyundai has not carried over the Concept RB’s sporty rear fascia and unique dual exhaust. It has gone for the conventional reflectors and and very mild design language.
Hyundai could save the side mirrors with integrated turn signals and bits of chrome for the Solaris facelift.
We’re quite sure that Hyundai will introduce both five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission on the new Solaris. The high-end models get up to six airbags and we’re expecting the Solaris to don the “EuroNCAP 5 Star” sticker on its rear windshield despite it not having all six airbags.
