Land Rover launches Freelander 2 in India

Mumbai: Land Rover today launched the highly acclaimed Freelander 2 in India. The Freelander 2 joins the acclaimed Discovery 4, the quintessential sports tourer, the Range Rover Sport and the ultimate luxury 4×4, the Range Rover, all of which were launched earlier in India in June this year.

The Freelander 2 has redefined the compact premium 4×4 segment. It delivers outstanding on-road performance as well as class-leading off-road ability, the hallmark of Land Rovers. A dynamic design, purposeful stance, smart and spacious interior, and an abundance of advanced technologies complete the package.

The Freelander 2 is powered by a 2.2 litre common rail turbodiesel engine. The engine is transversely mounted to provide extra space for better crash protection, front end styling and allows a shorter bonnet for more cabin space. Land Rover’s unique Terrain Response system is standard on the vehicle.

Spied – Ford’s small car gets snapped in pre-launch disguise

Our friends at TAI sent this in – If you don’t know what it is, look closely at the wheel cap. You won’t mistake it for anything else but a Ford.

Ford’s new small car (Splash?) gets ready to be shown to all of us tomorrow morning. Going by rumors, the new small car is based on a older Fiesta platform. Those who have seen the car say the body is adopted from the Fusion and the face is that of the Fiesta.

Frankly, I don’t know what to expect. A variant at an ex-showroom price of 2.5 lakh rupees is also floating around, which will have just A.C and no power steering or other comforts.

Finally the long awaited Hero Honda Karizma ZMR was launched here at the Hotel Leela Kempinski,Gurgaon. Media person from various media groups were present at the launch occasion. This is the first ever technical makeover/upgrade to the bike since its birth.

Apart from the changes done to the overall styling of the bike, the main enhancement to the technical specs of the bike is the introduction of the Programmed Fuel Injection along with the slight increase in the maximum power and torque of the bike which is 17.6 BHP @ 7000 rpm and 18.35 Nm@6000 rpm respectively.The bike also features new 240 mm rear disc brake.

The bike has feaures like maintenece free battery, RTMI (real time Mileage Indicator) and a bank angle sensor which can be seen on Honda’s CBF Stunner PGM-FI conributing to better safety and slashing maintenance costs.

The new Hero Honda Karizma will be available in 5 colors, namely Panther black, Sports Red, Vubrant Blue, Moon Yellow and Peral White. With an ex-showroom price of 91,000 in Delhi, performance bike cravers are going to be licking their lips.

Biker boy Naz Sid, who is at the launch of the new Hero Honda Karizma says the event has just drawn to a close. The new Karizma comes with Fuel injection and is priced at Rs 91,000 ex-showroom Delhi. The 223cc engine produces 17.6 bhp at 7000rpm and a maximum torque of 18.35Nm at 6000 rpm. The new Karizma ZMR can reach speeds as high as 135Kmph.

If you were an automaker and you had grand plans for India, which auto manufacturer would you look to partner with?

The answer is the obvious. And VW also agrees.

Rumors of a possible tie-up between VW and Suzuki were confirmed by a popular German publication which has quoted an unnamed Suzuki official. The report goes on to say Suzuki will have access to VW’s technology in exchange for Suzuki’s resources in India and other South East Asian markets which will enable it to get a good start.

Suzuki Official -

“For Suzuki and VW this connection would be a win-win situation. Suzuki would have access to a variety of VW’s technology, while Volkswagen would have a solid supporting leg in India and Southeast Asia.”

Yamaha recently gained our attention by introducing limited editions of the popular FZ and Fazer series in india. This limited edition sports a white and blue color combination with white alloy wheels adding uniqueness to the bike. The bike also has blue rim stripes and a limited edition logo on the tank. However, the technical specs of the bike remains exactly the same. The introduction of the limited edition Yamahas is a nice step towards keeping their products fresh and continue maintaining the popularity among bike lovers in India.

New Hero Honda Karizma launches today

The official launch of the new Hero Honda Karizma takes place today afternoon. After the advent of the new Bajaj Pulsar 220 and the fast approaching Kawasaki Ninja 250, Hero Honda would look to supplant the new comers with the ‘original’ performance motorcycle.

According to reports on the internet, the new Karizma comes with fuel injection, full fairing and colors. The power and torque values are also reported to have slight changes.
