There is so much talked about underpowered Linea Diesel.

True, Linea is somewhat slow in 0 to 100. But the performance is amazing when we see its acceleration from 20 to 80 or 40 to 100 KMPH. Even Civic, Camry, Accord or Octavia can not match Linea and hence no point in comparing with City, Verna, Fiesta, SX4, Dzire and so on - as it is way ahead.

In real life you do not start from 0 with clear tracks in front of you as in racing but often you are already at some speed. This is the usbale and normal midrange and Linea 1.3 delivers its performance there.

Well absolutely yes, let the 1.3 Multijet and 1.4 Fire do the duty in the entry level offerings and make way for the 1.4 T-jet and 1.6 MJD for the Sport maniacs.

This move will do fortunes of good in Fiat's brand image!

The T-Jet is not coming anytime soon. And the Punto wont have any new engine for a long time to come.

i completely agree with the article . FIAT has to be bolder with their engine offerings in india . I can understand their reservations after the palio 1.6 fiasco , but FIAT must understand that the times hav changed and they cannot shortchange the indian car buyer anymore with limited options . Whynot offer a 130bhp option along with the undepowered ones for the ecowenies and 'mileage kya hai brigade'( they have the diesel anyway ) . Ageed they might not bring in the nos but it will act as a halo model for the FIAT brand ( jus as the case was with the palio S10 and the 1.6 GTX anyway ). And while you are at it FIAT how about givin us the ABARTH .
