Honda Jazz to get City’s 1.5L V-TEC engine in 2010

Honda Siel will launch a ‘Hot’ variant of its pricey hatchback – Jazz, by early-2010. The new variant will feature Honda City’s 1.5L V-Tec engine that produces close to 110Bhp. The Jazz will also be offered with an optional automatic transmission by end-2009.

Honda claims that the V-Tec engine will be as fuel efficient as the 1.2L counterpart. Despite the 300cc increase in engine displacement, and a 20Bhp increase in power, Honda says that the clean and efficient City V-Tec engine will find the best match in the lighter Honda Jazz.

Predictions say that the Jazz 1.5 would cost 10-15% more than the existing Jazz 1.2, almost a lakh more. But for those who are looking for a powerful, comfortable, spacious and compact alternative to entry sedans, the Honda Jazz would be the only choice.

Having lost track of the number of time we’ve brought you this vehicle before, it was decided that it is best to move on to the fresh information that has emerged on the 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

The new Land Cruiser Prado, whose interiors were spied recently was photographed in a dealer lot, signifying its not so far away official announcement. The front grille, headlamp, bumper and tail lights have been altered.

This car with these body graphics looks like an animation character ready for a parade. Hope only its looks have been softened and not its capabilities.

The new version carries over the same 4.0-liter V6 engine from the outgoing car. Rumor has it the new Prado will harness power from the 4.6-liter V8 engine which at present serves the Land Cruiser.

Even better.

Hyundai Motor India, the largest exporter of cars in India is making some smart moves.

The company has chosen to move production of i20 to Turkey or Czech Republic which will supply to countries other than India. As a result, the logistics cost and import taxes are slashed leading to the reduction of its price by 10 to 15%.

This is done to face the competitive pricing of the compact cars in Europe, according to Hyundai. Hyundai however did not mention the recent worker strike at the plant that bogged down volumes as a reason, which we think was the driving force behind this decision.

On the other hand Hyundai Motor plans to set up a diesel plant near Chennai which will be operational by the end of next year.

Bajaj reverted back to the original carburetor configuration on their new Pulsar 220, and as a result they were able to reduce its price tag. This move did not go down well with many in the two-wheeler enthusiast community as today’s technology was traded for something from the past just for the sake of shaving costs and making it more affordable.

Provided the tendency in the Indian motorcycle industry where one impersonates the other, rather than taking a distinctive approach, Hero Honda surprisingly isn’t about to follow Bajaj, who feels moving backwards is the way forward. Their next motorcycle is what many of us have been dying to see for years now.

Behold the Hero Honda Karizma PGM-Fi. The war horn has been sounded!

Call it the i40 or call it the Sonata YF, it looks gorgeous. The new Hyundai Sonata was spied by someone on vacation in Arabia. Only a part of the car had camouflage on it.

The little quarter glass panel at the rear and the elongated headlamps are the finest and most striking features of this car to me

These are the most revealing shots of the i40 yet, which will come to India next year. We could expect it to be present at the Auto Expo. The interiors of the Sonata YF were brought to you not once but twice. The i40′s headlamps were shown separately in a post. The car’s stylish bumper took center stage a while ago. We’ve brought you fuzzy images of a production car, additionally.
