A few weeks back, Karl Slym, MD of GM India hinted it, now its official. Old Opel cars like Astra and Corsa can now be traded-in for newer and cleaner Chevrolet models.
This comes as a customer loyalty initiative and is a Limited period offer. So, if you are an Opel owner wanting to get rid of your old car, here’s what you do.
Take the Opel to a GM dealership for an inspection. Upon inspection by certified engineers, the car will be evaluated and a selling price will be quoted. To make the trade-in easier on your pocket, GM has roped in many public and private sector banks to offer low EMI schemes for new Chevys. You will also be offered free accessories worth Rs 10,000 by the dealer as part of the Opel exchange program.

After a long time, the Suzuki Kizashi is in the news again. And there’s nothing funny or irritating about it. Suzuki has confirmed this mid-size sedan will reach dealerships in America by the end of this year. Later on, as reports also state, Suzuki’s first hybrid car in the U.S will use the Kizashi platform and bodywork.
The Kizashi could have been the Japanese manufacturer’s most challenging undertaking in its several-decade history, thanks to the bouquet of uncertainties that loomed over this project due to recession and all.
We’ve cooked up our own stories and jokes, giving it the title of the World’s most confused car, but from the bottom of our heart, we love this car’s design and adore the prospect of a luxury car that will have surplus service backup and spares availability.
The next generation Nissan Micra/March will be manufactured in key developing regions of the world. Reports in the media state the new compact car intended for maturing markets like India, Africa and parts of Europe will debut in Thailand in March 2010.
The new Nissan small car will not only be manufactured in India, but also in Thailand, China, Mexico and an unnamed location.

Our regular reader Prakash, who sent us images of a next generation Chevrolet Spark mule, is at it again. This time he’s snapped a Toyota Fortuner near his home in Bangalore.
The Fortuner according to Toyota will be launched in the month of September. Speculations are plenty about its price, only after the launch can we be sure about anything. Expected price tag – Rs 18 lakh – 19 lakh
The Indian Toyota Fortuner will be powered by a 3.0-Liter Common Rail Diesel engine (163hp, 35kgm), that drives all four wheels using a full-time four wheel drive system. A 2.7-liter VVT-i petrol engine might also be available.

After going through spy shots (1, 2) of Ford’s new small car, our photoshop specialist SRK, has come up with his adaptation, which should be very close to the real thing.
Ford’s new small car has been spied several times now, both in India and abroad. We hear that Ford is testing mules with a dummy boot, to keep the bhp paparazzi confused.
It may perhaps be called the Splash locally, with interior space of the Tata Indica but cost just as much as a Hyundai Santro. It is also learnt that the new car would be based on a previous platform belonging to the Ford Fiesta to cut development cost and time. The tires of the new small car will be small (following the footsteps of the new Ikon in our fleet) to achieve more in the fuel economy department.
Mimicking the entry-level Ikon, the ground clearance is high, as it should be, a Duratorq motor would discover a home under the car’s bonnet. Initially, a 1.2-liter petrol unit would debut to keep a check on the price tag.
A base version with just A.C and power steering would assist meeting the cost target while higher variants with power windows and other gizmos would also be on offer.
This car could make it to the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo.

Bajaj claims its break-through technology (DTS-SI 2.0) gives the 100cc Discover more gas mileage than any other bike in the 100cc category, and the figures of 80km/liter in actual riding conditions is eye ball popping.

Regular reader of Indian Autos Blog Harsha, had visited the Hyderbad International Auto Show, an annual event organized by Vista entertainments in association with HICC, Hyderabad today morning. He brought back some images and here, he explains the appealing portions of the show.
The show was held at the HICC (Hyderabad international convention centre). A total of twenty two bike and car manufacturers displayed their range and a total of over 100 cars and bikes were brought under one roof.
From electric bikes to Hayabusas, and Altos to Audis, the show thrilled auto enthusiasts here in Hyderabad.

Car abuse can’t get any worse and Chevys have been the targets of late. Quite predictably, it has happened in China, a place where anything and everything from Tata Nano to Rolls-Royce Phantom has a cloned twin.
Since all the cars sold in the world have been duplicated in China, the Chinese have come up with a brilliant plan to overcome the shortage of models to copy from – clone from a clothing line!
As part of an initiative named ‘East meets West’, Levis Strauss met Chevrolet (couldn’t figure out which of these represents the East), and the result of that is shown in these pictures.
