The eagerly anticipated Chevrolet Spark LPG was launched in Delhi today morning. The Chevrolet Spark LPG is different to the regular version with beige interiors and Certified Factory Fitted Next Generation Sequential Injection-type LPG kit.

On the international front, many companies have put forward their kits, the most notable was from Farhrmitgas last year.

The Spark LPG discussions began last year on Indian Autos Blog. We expect the company to follow this model up with the 800cc Spark with the pricing below the Maruti Suzuki Alto.

The Chevrolet Spark 1.0L PS/1.0L LS LPG uses Sequential Injection-type LPG kit, which Chevrolet claims employs new that hold a big advantage over the venture-type LPG kit available in the market today. The engine can also run on petrol in the absence of LPG.

Hyundai Verna facelift launched in Korea

The Koreans are unlucky. Though this the new version, it looks like a mistake. The face of the Hyundai Verna facelift (known locally as the Verna Transform) reminds me of the alien in the movie alien vs predator. Scary, nasty and very very uncool to say the least.

The revised Hyundai Verna sporting minor changes is now available in Korea. External differences include a different radiator grill, bumper, quadra-exhaust and headlamp.

Interiors receive a dose of items like a different mp3 player/radio, speedo and tacho dials and ipod connectivity facility.

Will this come to India? Hyundai, you don’t want to do this to us. After cars like the i20, you’ve moved to the next level in design and engineering. Bring this to India and you will move instantly a step backward.

This is literally warding off customers from showrooms. This would serve its purpose in farmlands as scarecrows.

Rendering – Honda’s new small car

We always knew that an all-new Honda small car was in the works. We thought that the new car would be boxy like the 600cc Honda Zest sold in Japan.

Now, it appears that Honda is working on a super compact car for the US market also. A car that would compete with the Smart and Toyota iQ/Scion.

So we ask ‘Will the new small car that is to come to India, look similar to this?’ Well, it has every chance to be!

We do not have much information about the engine specs and the seating configurations (2-door 2 seater/ 2 door 4-seater/ 4-door 4 seater)

But we know that, the new Honda small car will have an intense level of localization which will help bring the cost down.

Honda could use its Rajasthan facility which is currently work in progress to produce upto 250,000 units per annum when fully functional.

If only we were Malaysians, we would be lucky to buy the Honda Jazz Grade S Modulo limited edition, which basically is a top-end Jazz fitted with the Modulo kit. Nevertheless it looks like fun.

The Modulo kit for the Honda Jazz is made up of front and rear lip spoiler, side skirts, and a tailgate spoiler. And listen to this- you can choose any color to kit the car as long as it is blue.

A mere 100 units of the kitted Jazz is available and Honda charges nothing extra.

The Malaysian Honda wing could not have managed to sell the allotted blue color top-end variants. And as a result, it began stagnating in their stockyard leading them to such a decision.

The Honda Jazz is based on the City‘s platform, and its success can be measured by the 500,000 examples, which have left production lines to European homes. Honda kitted the Civic and sold it at a premium in the country, so speaking with that in mind, the Modulo kit might make it here in a while.

Is General Motors making headlines or what? The (former) American Auto giant filed for bankruptcy hours ago, but clearly stated its Indian operations would remain unharmed.

GM has managed finally to find a home in China for the Hummer brand, which is another huge achievement for the company, since its been like donkey years since the search began.

Would Hummer make any sense in this era of small and fuel efficient vehicles which even the U.S is witnessing? We can’t do any answering now but all we can say is a lot of exciting products could wear the Hummer badge in the future. It all depends on the way the team regroups and works, because its terribly easy to screw it up.

But the hot report of the lot is the Rs.2-lakh car for the Indian market. The new small car would be positioned below the Spark which is currently the cheapest car in India.

Other than India, markets like Russia, China and Latin America would also be on this car’s radar, the report said.

The report also adds a new Chevrolet Spark variant would supplement the existing range. This could either be the 800cc engine or the LPG variant. Guess we have to wait and see.
