The VW Up! will be built in India eventually, and we even performed a case study to analyze what they could do with the platform. Now, AutoTelegraaf reports the electric version of the car will be released by 2013.
VW plans to sell 500,000 Up!’s a year and the variants have to plenty to achieve such a tall order. In India, the VW Up’s platform could have been used consistently before the electric car arrives.
By then Hyundai, Ford and the others would have also instituted their electric models in the Indian market.
Hybrid variants will also spawn out of this platform. A concept named Up! plug-in blue hybrid with an estimated range of 65 miles on battery power alone from 2007 is at VW R&D’s disposal.
The VW Up! will come by 2011 in petrol and diesel versions. Skoda will use the platform to roll out its small car, while SEAT‘s small car will also be born out of it.
Sources tell us the Skoda Laura, which will be launched in India on the 22nd 20th of this month, will be set free with the 1.8-liter TSI engine used on the Superb. Inside, the list of changes include a new dashboard, seat fabric and a 6-speed manual gearbox. Diesel variants and the vRS variants will follow suit, before the end of this year.
The Logan gets a new engine overseas while we are yet to see the facelift in India. The new 1.2 16v engine replaces the 1.4-liter MPI and delivers the power of 75 hp at 5,500 rpm and 107 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm with a 15% better fuel economy.

When a car maker spends a few million on a car, he intends to make many times that over time. The Fiat 500 was a do or die car for Fiat and that doesn’t mean they’ll be happy selling that for the rest of their life.

The Fiat 500 Station wagon is planned for next year. Four doors are too many for this little car, so don’t expect anything more than a longer wheelbase and a scattering of badges.
The Chevrolet Aveo U-VA’s successor was snapped while testing at the infamous Nurburgring. The Aveo utilizes the company’s Gamma 2 platform which is also common to the upcoming Spark.

The first ever production model was rolled out of Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic yesterday. It was a 4WD model equipped with a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine. A 2.0 liter TDI engine followed suite.
Sources inform us the Skoda Yeti would be produced in India by 2011. It could arrive in the country in the form of CKDs to be glued together at the company’s facility in Aurangabad and sold for around 10-lakh rupees.

We’ve placed the Hyundai small car in the limelight not once, but twice here before.
What we did not know in both the occasions was the Hyundai small car, codenamed GB, will be sold with a 800cc engine and a 1.0-liter engine petrol engine.
Yeah, adjoin a diesel engine to that, reports Auto Express. How many cylinders and horsepower is however not known yet.
Reports also confirm Hyundai engineers from Korea and India are working closely in designing this car. Both the teams bond in Hyundai’s facility in Namyang (Korea) and in Hyderabad (India).
