IAB Special- Nine new cars we look forward to in 2009

Car manufacturers in India are reeling in the wake of the economic crisis, but none of them intend to give it up anytime soon. Every car maker has its own strategy to deal with poor sales numbers which according to Auto experts continue till the end of this year for many.

Car makers know one thing- You can excite customers and bring them to showrooms only if you have something new to boast of. Listed here are nine glitzy cars that promise to draw the map to car dealerships for customers in India.

In India- You see the Fiat Grande Punto testing on the highways of Maharashtra

In China- You see the Fiat Grande Punto testing out some other car’s components without authorization and for some reason, with a lot of camouflage.

Are there any rules at all enforced on Chinese car companies? They have their own Smart, Matiz, A-Star, Yaris, Swift and Nano. If that wasn’t enough to sail your boat, here’s some new menace- A Chinese crap car using another manufacturer’s body shell for its testing.

Further, the Roewe 250 has done a poor job at hiding the fact that it’s wearing the Grande Punto’s clothes. Why camouflage it wasting money, time and tape?

Tata Nano Test Drive – A Teaser Report

Few have seen the Tata Nano up close, and even fewer have had the chance to drive the car. Tata Nano test drive reports are hard to find. On that basis, you wouldn’t want to miss what we have in store for you, would you?

Aston Martin Rapide- First Official details

Aston Martin Rapide

The Aston Martin Rapide, which is a 4-door sportscar from the British firm to challenge the Porsche Panamera and the Mercedes Benz CLS, is now closer than ever before. Aston Martin have issued a press release which means the curtains are going to rise very soon.

The car we knew, wasn’t all the far away from its d-day as it had shed most of its camouflage, the excess along the doors and the headlights were the only misleads in the recent spy shots.

An Aston 6.0-litre V12 throwing out no less than 470bhp (350kW) and 600Nm of torque will transfer the task to a Touchtronic gearbox, which will eventually reach the rear axle of the Aston Martin Rapide.

Aston Martin Director of Design Marek Reichman-

We wanted to make the most beautiful four-door sports car in the world

The Aston Martin Rapide was photographed as it was undergoing formalities over the two years. Recent snaps were taken in Scandinavia during cold weather testing and during a hot lap at the Nurburgring.

The new Mercedes Benz E 250 BlueTEC concept is said to easily surpass the strictest emissions standards set by Bin 5 in the U.S., and also EU6 – which will come to force only in 2014.

After clinching the title of the most confused car in the history of automobiles, the Suzuki Kizashi has finally gotten rid of all the twisted tales of the past and preparing itself a clearer future.

As per Suzuki’s claims in January, the Kizashi should have been unveiled at the New York Auto show. But it seems that the actual launch was slated only for November (here we go again!). Suzuki now says that the Kizashi Concept will debut at Los Angeles Auto Show in Nov 09′ and at the same time appear in dealerships in various parts of the world.

Shoeb Kalania, who has the regular habit of reading Indian Autos Blog, sent us a rendering of the Xylo pickup truck after he read about it on our blog. Shoeb runs SRK designs, a studio that focuses on automobiles that are months, sometimes years from a production line.

The Xylo pickup truck would come about from Mahindra’s Nashik plant later on in 2009. Demand for a lifestyle pickup in the country would understandably not be as much as in South Africa or say Thailand. The idea would be to allocate a small portion of the stock to India and the rest overseas.
