Living in India, you don’t get to see many Mercedes Benz SLKs. During my visit to the U.K back in 2006, I remember seeing them running around all over the place. They looked like mini SLR’s, with that muscle bisecting the bonnet leading to the 3-pointed star on the radiator grille. The fins, lines, profile and the tail lamps were all SLR. You get what I mean, don’t you?
My friend Arman at Motorward tells me the Mercedes Benz SLK is very popular in the U.A.E. He also tells me its too early to talk about its next iteration, the one that’ll embark international markets in 2011 and unite with Indians sometime around 2012.
The rendering of the 2011 Mercedes Benz SLK looks like a smaller SL. The SL 63 AMG was discussed earlier, so you can get an idea of what I’m talking about by looking at it.
I don’t know how many of you will recollect the next generation BMW 5 Series bumper on IAB a few months back. Adopting a similar path (intentionally or unintentionally) a spy shot of the Hyundai Sonata’s bumper has found its way to the web.
The Hyundai Sonata YF is built on a fresh platform. It will be produced in Korea in gasoline, diesel and gasoline-electric variants. The Sonata YF, unlike the present Sonata with a lot of BMW 5-Series inspiration to it, will look different and have a station wagon variant too. It’ll have the chromosomes present in the ‘i’ range of cars. It’s referred as the i40, you know?
The gadgets category is getting interesting by the day. Last time we got you tire pressure indicators which have utility values of calculators. Today we’re featuring solar-powered keychain which will be of interest to all of you reading this article.
From here onwards, the Indian Autos Blog team has decided to come up with useful tips regarding your car and related matters once every week. This we hope will help car owners around the world.
With our tips, you’ll learn how to always do things in the right manner and be in the safest possible situation. Over the next few weeks, we’ll cover topics related to driving.
What Should I Check Routinely Before A Long Drive?
Make sure that you are carrying all relevant documents concerning the car as well as your driving license.
Make a quick check on basics- tire pressure, water in the radiator, fuel, etc; basics like these when ignored lead to disasters.
Always carry a spare wheel, toolbox, fan belt, hosepipe etc…you never know when and where the vehicle may breakdown.
Are the lights both front and back are functioning properly? no sense taking risks here.
The 2010 Mercedes Benz S 63 AMG and S 65 AMG have been officially announced by the company a few hours back. The changes aren’t major by any standards, they can be described as “fine tuning.”
The S 65 AMG is the larger of the two, looks posh and has more firepower under its bonnet. The S 63 AMG on the other hand is one level down on power and performance- its 525 hp AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine developing 630 Nm torque, is capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. Which isn’t slow or boring.
The S 65 AMG treats you with the comfort, features, space and feel of the S-Class but performs like the SLR. Its AMG 6.0-liter biturbo V12 engine has enough grunt to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The V12 delivers 612 hp and 1000 Nm, stats that F1 drivers will be well versed with.

In this interview published on the Official Force India website, Adrian Sutil, who was in sixth position ahead of reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton at yesterday’s Chinese GP, cherishes a few memories and proves his temperament is solid as rock.
Q: You had a fantastic race in the wet in Monaco last year, and another one here, but sadly both ended in retirement. What are your feelings about today?
‘Our performance was really very good and we should all be very proud of this race. It was a risk to go on one-stop, because I stopped very early. I was very light at the beginning and then under the safety car we went into the pits and just filled it up. We knew it would have been tight on the tyres, but the grip in the corners was enough to stay in a good position, but with the aquaplaning on the straights it was sometimes hard to keep it on the circuit. You never knew what was going to happen because the car went to the left or the right. With six laps to go I hit another patch of water and ended up in the wall. It was very disappointing.’
Ferrari F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen, who isn’t having a very good time driving his Ferrari in many parts of the world, decided to stay back in Shanghai to visit the Shanghai Motor Show and should have been happy to be in the company of a more pleasing, civilized and driver-friendly Ferrari
Kimi arrived at the show along with many members of his racing team to pull the satin off the sky blue Ferrari California for the Asian continent. Kimi was also joined by the top-level management of the Italian company and even spoke a few words in English which understandably has not been recorded in the press release.
Ferrari is present in China with a solid plan. With no less than ten dealerships and a on-road strength of 500 cars in its five year trading tenure, we’ve stopped wondering why they’ve made the effort to unveil it there.
My friends find Prison Break, the perfect substitute for sleep and food. They download episodes through the night and watch them through the day. They even watch the same episodes over and over again.
The star of the popular TV show Prison Break, Wentworth Miller with his arrogant looks has been cast by Chevrolet on the latest Chinese TV Commercial of the Cruze. Wentworth was also in China to promote the Chevrolet Cruze at the Shanghai Auto show opening yesterday.
The advert has a racy sound track, Wentworth’s voice melts into it giving the Prison Break feel to it. Just like any other action-based car commercial, black SUVs, chase scenes and sexy voices are plenty.
But at the end of it, I don’t know what they mean or convey through this ad. Do you?
