The race at Shanghai last weekend could have had delightful consequences, but wasn’t to be. All Force India has to do now is hope for the best with a set of new changes including an interim diffuser at this weekend’s Bahrain GP.

Both the VJM02 cars will host a new floor and an interim diffuser. The Force India cars will also carry new auxiliary wings on the front wing and reprofiled sidepods to fit the modified rear end.

Dr Vijay Mallya, chairman and team principal-

“I think the team’s performance in China was very encouraging. We functioned well as a unit, made the correct calls from the pit wall and showed again that when the conditions allow we can be competitive. Both Adrian and Giancarlo drove phenomenal races and really did the team proud. We know we still have work to do and putting in these performances in every race is still a distant goal, but I feel confident there are good foundations now. It’s a boost for everyone not to lose hope as we can still surprise.”

“As usual, we know points are going to be very difficult to achieve and we should not set this as a goal for Bahrain. Yes, Adrian had a very strong race in China and very nearly achieved our ultimate goal far earlier than anyone could have expected, but we should not look on the Chinese Grand Prix as indicative of our general form. Instead, we need to focus once more on reliability and consistency and look to be there if circumstances allow.”

The Audi A4 is offered in India with either the 2.0 TDI (diesel) or the 3.2 FSI (petrol) engine. You don’t have the choices Audi plonks under the A4 overseas, but here’s one Audi might be tempted to add to the Indian arsenal.

Rendering – 2009 Honda City 3-door Coupe

3-door cars are a sparse find in India, forget 3-door sedans. Nevertheless, a little stretch of an artist’s imagination can lead to a lot of interesting effects. Especially if it’s a photoshop transformation of a popular car.

Take for instance, the new Honda City. It was launched in India last year and people have fallen in love with it. It looks sharper and sleeker than the out going City, in my view, it looks far better in comparison to the previous model. Honda’s made use of the Civic’s ingredients on this car and the results had to be good.

The newest TV commercial from Bajaj on its DTSi technology is easily the most exciting we’ve seen from Bajaj. Purely inspired by the hollywood movie Transformers, this Ad is directed perfectly to stand just ahead of the one with centred around just the engine and gearbox coming together to form the bike.

Bajaj has not kept its word on the 6-months-6-bikes promise, but churns out interesting Ad after another without making any fuss at all.

REVA’s World Earth Day idea is worthy

If you were an eco-car manufacturer, what would you do on a day that’s set aside for the environment? Release a special edition with stickers and tints that pollutes no less, use it as an advertising occasion and pose with models in a green outfit, speak about renewable sources of energy and waste everyone’s time?

Doing none of that is the World’s biggest maker of electric cars, REVA Electric Car Company, who has come out with a novel idea to raise awareness among public.

REVA has commenced a three day ‘Spot the Green Car’ contest on its place of origin, Bangalore yesterday April 21 and will end on the World Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
