Maruti Suzuki to replace WagonR, Omni & Versa

Maruti Suzuki India today revealed its plans to replace three of its cars — the WagonR, Omni and Versa. A person dealing with the projects said the new WagonR will be based on the Suzuki’s MR Wagon platform(like the existing model), but the exterior and interior will be throughly made-over. The new Omni will be built on Versa platform to replace both Omni and Versa.

Maruti Suzuki registers record sales in Jan 09

Recession??? Yeah…Even recession fears India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki. Maruti Suzuki India Limited achieved its highest ever domestic and total sales in January 2009. In January 2009, the company sold 67,005 units, in the domestic market, up 5.6% over corresponding month last fiscal. The previous highest monthly domestic sales were 65,216 units in November 2007.

Porsche Panamera coming to India by Sep’09

Porsche India has slated plans to bring its four door coupe -Panamera here by September this year. Panamera, which will make its first public appearance at 2009 Shanghai Autoshow, will be released in International markets this summer, and come to India for a final stopover.

Maini to launch its Reva L-ion by May 2009

Maini has announced its plans to launch a new variant of its Reva, the country’s first electric car, which will be powered by advanced technology L-ion (Lithium-ion) batteries, when launched later this this year.

Maini is also planning to set up its second local manufacturing unit in country also it plans to sell 1,000 EVs this fiscal.

The much awaited next generation Hyundai Sonata also called as the Concept YF has been caught undergoing highway testing yet again, this time somewhere in South Korea.

From the concept and the spy pictures, we can safely expect a design that is very close in character to the Mercedes CLS. The roofline is a major indication of this.

Hyundai to export small cars to the Philippines

Hyundai has expressed its plans to export its small cars to Philippines in 2009 in a bid to expand its export market. Hyundai managing director Heung Soo Lheem told visiting ASEAN journalists here his company will export 2,000 units this year to the Philippines.
