I think the changes mentioned by IAB are the changes from first generation X-Trail to second generation X-Trail (already launched in Japan and Europe since 2007).
i.e. Roof rack integrated lights, move from centrally mounted instrument cluster to driver side mounted, etc etc.

The anticipated facelift is actually a facelift for the second generation, which many developing markets including my home country Malaysia and India missed out. Like India, our local Nissan distributors were forced to chug along with the ageing first gen X-Trail. It was rumoured that the second gen model was not introduced in developing markets as the cost structure was too high for assembly outside Japan and high import duties made sale of the model in such markets not possible.

But now we are hearing rumours that the car will be finally be made available in ASEAN markets, though it is hard to be certain where will these cars be assembled. Would be interesting to see if Nissan India is importing them or are assembling them domestically.

Also, was X-Trail ever made available in 7-seater form? Neither the major markets in ASEAN - Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore ever had them in 7-seater form.
