Fiat will source parts for low cost car from India

The Italian Auto major -FIAT has said that India will play an important role in the launch of FIAT’s low cost car brand which is expected by year 2010.

Earlier, Fiat had plans of confining the low cost brand to the European markets. Now though, FIAT is considering India as a key hub for its new brand chiefly for supply of cheap yet durable components.

Pollution levels are rising every day and maneuvering through my city traffic with windows rolled down in the morning rush is like negotiating a metro sewer without a gas mask. Smoke, in all colors and smells enter my car, so strong that attempts by several car perfume manufacturers went futile.

This innovation-

* Kanishk Sinha, 30, and his wife Lipika, 25, have been the brains behind the Jasper engine

* An engine that doesn’t use petrolium fuel or batteries to produce power

* Does not give rise to any of the harmful emissions that a petrol or diesel engine would

What we have here is a totally environment-friendly engine that can be used for several application. It’s called the Jasper Engine.

Hyundai i20 i-Blue to meet production shortly

Hyundai unveiled the i20 along with its sister model i20 i-blue last September 2008, in Paris Motor Show. Sources say that the i20 i-blue concept car will make it to production very soon.

The i20 i-blue is the latest from the range of advanced low emissions concept cars from Hyundai. The car looks very similar to the standard i20, but the drastic changes done are hidden under the hood.

After revealing pictures of the Chevrolet Beat production version last week, GM seems to have more surprises in store. At the Detroit Auto Show, General Motors revealed that its all-new Chevrolet Spark would go on sale in the United States by 2011 and would reach South Korea & Europe in early 2010. The Beat concept small car which was showcased at the New York Auto Show in 2007, has been selected to become a global car – The Spark. Sources at Chevrolet confirmed that the production car will make its world debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show. The five-door compact small car will be sold as a world car to replace the current Matiz.

IAB Exclusive- Fresh Tata Nano Images

Ishaque Valasseri, an IAB follower, has sent us an email with 10 images of the Tata Nano, which he photographed testing somewhere between Pune and Mumbai. We present you these images a few days after Vinayak sent us some of his Tata Nano images, snapped on the NH4.

Ishaque also informs us that the Nano’s petrol engine comes with a governor that limits engine’s top speed to 110 km/hr.

2010 Audi A8- IAB Special Report

‘German Luxury Car Trio’ Audi, BMW & Mercedes, are ready to unleash Blitzkreig with each other’s ‘Dictators Cars’ (High-end luxury cars). BMW has already revealed its New 7- Series and Mercedes is slowly but steadily bringing its 2010 S-Class close to completion. Not surprisingly, Audi is also at work designing and testing its flagship A8 luxury sedan set to be released in 2010. The designers of the A8 in a new ‘avatar’ are expected by Audi to keep the looks fresh in the market to compete its rival counterparts – Mercedes-Benz S class and BMW 7 series.

While the whole world is weeping out of recession time, and the big car makers badly in need of a bail out plan, here come BMW with a huge leap in sales in India.

The German car maker BMW recorded a 100% sales growth in India for the year 2008. BMW had sold 2,908 units in 2008, in contrast to 1,387 cars in 2007.
