The Italian car manufacturer Fiat has finally launched its Linea sedan in a glittering ceremony in Mumbai at Taj Lands End. The car was due in December but because of recent Mumbai terror attacks car makers like FIAT and Mahindra postponed the launches of their new products, Linea and Xylo respectively.

IAB comment- The Indian Auto battle ground is heating up. Every car maker is in attack mode now and as a result we consumers are getting great products day by day. A day before it was the Xylo from M&M and now its the FIAT’s latest offering, the Linea.

The car looks graceful and has borrowed some design cues from other big cars. Let me give you an example- Look closely at its front grille, side-rear quarter glass, and the tail lamps from side view; they all resemble Audi’s designs to my eye.

The Linea sends out a sound warning to Maruti’s SX4, Fords’ Fiesta, Hyundai Verna etc, that some rigorous competition is ahead for all of them. The unanswered question is whether the Linea will be accepted by Indian customers considering it’s dark history in India. To be frank, we’re bored of talking about it. We’ll wait for the Linea’s sales numbers before we add anything more.

Nice pictures of the launch. I must say Fiat have a very potent product in their hands but they need to give good service too :)
