Looks might be deceiving. At first glance, this might look like the existing CLS version launched in 2004(Which somehow looks fresh!). But thats where the similarities end. Being a test-mule, makes it a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The car will share its platform with the existing S-Class sedan flagship and hence will feature a wider track- indicated by the extended wheel arches.
CLS will be made available with a HYBRID option based on the same powertrain as the one used in the recently revealed S 320 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. The engine options will include a V6 and V8 powerplants. There will invariably be a high-performance AMG tuned monster.
The CLS is expected to retain a similar Coupe design but a bit larger and with much sharper lines. The CLS has always had the best of both worlds, Luxury and sports-car performance. With the upcoming Porsche’s Panamera, Audi’s A7 and Aston Martin’s Rapide , Mercedes is sure to come up with a stunner CLS . It is likely to be launched in late 2010 as a 2011 model.
I have seen quite a few Merc CLSs plying the streets in my city. I expect a lot more of them in the coming years. Will you buy one for yourself in the future? (considering you have the money)
